Our friends and volunteers are committed to helping others. We take our love and passion for horses and turn it into action. If you are interested in being a part of what we do, please contact us!
Timber, an abandoned horse from eastern Kentucky, inspired us to help senior horses live their lives to the fullest! Timber's Grateful Companions formed to provide a haven for seniors living out their golden years.
Our mission is simple:
1. Support the nutritional and veterinary needs of senior equines
2. Serve as an educational resource for senior equines' owners
3. Facilitate Outreach and Education programs to students and special populations
To encourage students to move towards their career goals and discover the importance of caring for animals and people.
Using equines, our program focuses on:
1. Animal Care and Husbandry
2. Development of civic responsibility towards the community in which students live.
Horses are used to teach students to develop skills in the areas of:
Communication
Budgeting
General Animal Care
Veterinary Science
Leadership
Marketing
Our program can be tailored to any grade level and we work closely with educators to ensure that material presented is relevant to subjects being currently studied.
We are excited to be partnering with Greenhouse17, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting and serving people who have suffered intimate partner abuse.
We conduct site visits with clients who need exposure to the healing energy that horses provide.
There is no fee required for our Outreach and Education visits, but we certainly appreciate donations! Just click on the donate button to make a donation.

We are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of senior equines that need us, and to expand our outreach and education efforts. If you are no longer able to care for your senior equine, you can surrender him/her to us - a 25 acre farm in central Kentucky dedicated to the care of your horse. For more information, go to the Helping Your Horse page.
By supporting Timber's Grateful Companions, you are part of this "giving back" effort. If you would like to be added to our mailing list, please email us at director@timbersgc.org.
